ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system that supports the organization's ability to:

  • consistently deliver products and services that meet customer requirements and legal and regulatory requirements;

  • better opportunities to increase customer satisfaction;
  • consider risks and opportunities relevant to the organization's context and objectives;
  • demonstrate compliance with specific requirements in the quality management system.

The ISO 9001 standard is a good tool for organizations that want to;

  • Demonstrate its ability to consistently offer products and services that meet customer and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Aims to increase customer satisfaction through efficient use of the system.

Process approach in ISO 9001

Organizations deliver value through activities linked to a network of processes. Processes often cross boundaries of functions in the organization. Consistent and predictable results are achieved more efficiently when the network of processes works as a coherent system.

Processes are specific to an organization and vary depending on the type, size and maturity of the organization. The activities in each process should be determined and adapted to the organisation's size and characteristics.

To achieve its objectives, the organization should ensure that all processes are proactively managed, including external processes, to ensure that they are effective. It is important to optimize the balance between the various purposes and specific goals for the processes, in line with the organisation's goals.

ISO 9001 is based on a "process approach" that includes the establishment of processes, interdependencies, constraints and shared resources.

Implementation of a management system according to ISO 9001 can have both internal and external effects on your organisation. Examples may be;

Internal Effects:

  • Increased customer focus
  • Clarified workflows and responsibilities
  • Efficient processes
  • Continuous improvement

External effects:

  • Satisfied customers
  • Delivery that meets expectations
  • Competitive prices
  • Market access

Effective implementation of ISO 9001 can help achieve the following sustainability goals.
